In November 2011 I rekindled a hobby that I had some 30 years ago and embarked on brewing my own beer. In a short period of time I discovered that MAJOR improvements have been made over the years in not only supplies, kits, techniques and ingredients but the amount of information that is now available on the Web and in books is impressive and should keep the home brewing hobbyist entertained and educated for years.
BrewWiki is a great place to start
To really take it to the next level, I recommend taking a look at Eric Myers' Blog called Top Fermented and if you are in the North Carolina (Raleigh region), I highly recommend joining the Triangle Homebrewers on Meetup and on Facebook.
For even more excellent advice, great recipes and articles and a look inside the mind of a home brewer "gone Mad", you really need to check out The Mad Fermentationist !
If you have not already done so, get yourself a copy of Beersmith and watch your knowledge of brewing take off. Not only does Beersmith provide an awesome piece of software, it also provides a great way to learn about brewing and the effect that each ingredient and techniques.
Every time I use this software I find out something new and as someone with the technical background I have to complement the developers and testers of this awesome piece of software - now if they could port it to an iPad app we would be in business......
During my quest to become an awesome brewmaster I have run across some really good information that I have attempted to catalog on this site. Use the following links to access specific topics of interest.
